Disadvantages of Outsourcing

Outsourcing your work to a BPO company in the Philippines is one giant step. For a business owner, whether for a start up or established company, it must be hard to not be able to physically monitor some part of your operations everyday. This is actually one of the disadvantages of using a BPO company in the Philippines. Because of its proximity, some business owners are uncomfortable about giving the BPO company access to important information about how their business is being run.

Other issues that business owners look at as a disadvantage in outsourcing their workforce include security, confidentiality and service level. Questions like "How secure is your facility?" or "How sure are we that confidential client information like SSNs and credit card numbers will not be leaked?" are common concerns that clients raise. However, these issues can easily be put to rest by looking for two things when you are shopping around for the right BPO.

First, the BPO you are looking for must have the right certification in terms security standards and quality. Look for a BPO that is International Organization for Standardization or ISO and Information Security Management System or ISMS certified. That way you are sure that the BPO company is following a set of guidelines to ensure that no customer information will be leaked and that it follows the standard security protocol.

There is no reason for you not to enjoy the benefits of outsourcing. By taking an extra step to ensure that the company you will work with has the proper certifications, outsourcing your operations may be one of the decisions that will pay off the most.
